Widely read IT trade publication eWEEK just released an in-depth product review on Unidesk. We were extremely excited when we saw that the title said "Unidesk Brings VDI Success." And even more so when we read the opening paragraph:

"Unidesk's innovative platform greatly simplifies virtual desktop infrastructure management and deployment for both VMware View and Citrix XenDesktop."

For the full review, go to Unidesk Brings VDI Success.

This marks the second major IT publication to conclude, after an in-depth technical analysis, that our virtual desktop management platform is a game-changer. InformationWeek reached a similar conclusion back in July soon after we launched Unidesk 1.0 - see Unidesk: A Companion to VDI.

The first half of the eWEEK review explains the benefits of our desktop layering technology. "Unidesk's ability to solve the major problems associated with VDI, while improving management capabilities, the end-user experience and protecting applications from corruption, makes Unidesk a useful product for administrators dealing with balky VDI implementations or looking to regain control of personalized virtual desktops."

The second half of the review summarizes the reviewer's experience from taking Unidesk into the lab and putting it to the test. "Installation of Unidesk is straightforward and offers no surprises, as long as you plan the installation accordingly, which basically means being familiar with your current VDI configuration and having the appropriate resources available to install the CacheCloud virtual appliance."

The final analysis is that Unidesk gives IT and end users the kind of desktop both have been looking for. "Once Unidesk is deployed most users will not even realize they are running a virtual desktop infrastructure — the Unidesk-delivered desktop looks and feels the same as a local physical desktop. The only difference is that users will find that their problems can be resolved more quickly and administrators will find their desktop infrastructure easier to manage."

We're proud that our technology is being recognized by highly respected trade publications such as eWEEK and InformationWeek. But we're proudest that Unidesk is now being put into production to help customers realize the full benefits of virtual desktops.
