The problem occurs when the print driver is updated or a new driver is created on the print server.  If you find a printer and update the driver a registry is created to Copy Files usually spool\DRIVERS\W32X86\3\hpcpn115.dll

remove the Print driver that is associated with the printer from Print Server Properties

Next go into the registry on the Print SERVER to

Go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Printers\[PrinterName]\CopyFiles\BIDI"

and delete the “copyfiles” key in full.

attached is a script i built so i do not have to delete the drivers by hand. There is alot of extra stuff in the script that i edited out.

Thank you!

That did it!

I just deleted the driver in the print server menu because I didn't found the related entry in the registry.

After I deleted the driver I was able to install the printers that were affected by the driver issue.

When you get the error that windows cannot connect to the printer, then a simple solution to this is to create a new local port. Goto start > Devices and Printers > Add a printer >Add a local Printer > Create a new port and select type of port. Now add in the port name that includes the ip address of your computer along with the name of your printer and clikc next and that will fix yorur issue.
